Thank's for 6K+ Downloads, and a Happy New Year!

Every day I check my itch page to see dozens of new comments, videos and downloads, so many now that I cannot keep up with them! This game has grown far further than I would ever have imagined it to as a simple college assignment.

First of all, a huge thank you to everyone for playing the game, and an even bigger thank you to all of those who recorded their own gameplay and even some who donated! It really makes me happy as someone just starting out in the world of Game Design to have a project take off like this and it fuels me to push myself and keep at this dream of mine. I hope to continue to surprise people with my work and release more games in the future!

Considering the future of They Looked Like Us, I have stated before that this game is very much only an introduction to a larger story that I would love to fully make a reality some day with another, larger entry into it's universe in the form of a second follow up game. However, my plans for this may be ambitious, meaning it might be a while before I continue this story. In the meantime, I hope to work on other projects and hopefully release some more short titles in the near future, though I am still working through college and will be spending most of my game dev time on my coursework for the time being.

Once again, I cannot express enough how greatful I am for my game to have found an audience and for all of the feedback, both positive and negative, that I have recieved. It really means a ton. I am aware of a few minor issues with the game, such as some players having difficulty opening doors and the game's ending missing a bit more kick to really feel as climactic as I wanted it to. That being said, I was aware of these issues on release, as this game was only made in a few weeks for a college assignment. I plan to fix these bugs soon, as I have been on a bit of a break due to how overwhelming the game's success on itch has become for me. Despite that, I fully intend to get a small patch out soon that fixes a few issues, as well as potentially update the game to have just a little more content!

For now though, I thought it would be fun to share some behind the scenes work that I did on the game and hopefully inspire some other people out there to give game development a try! I hope everyone has a great new year and I really look forward to my next project!
Cya!

Original Level Plan for the house (REJECTED):

(A rejected layout for the map. Originally the map would have 2 floors! This was scrapped due to my project deadline making it risky to attempt a larger-scale map.)

SKINWALKER CONCEPT ART:

Some initial ideas for the Skinwalker's apperance! I settled on my first idea as I felt it was the right balance of simplicity and unnerving. (Originally, the skinwalker was supposed to have hair, however I could not get it working during the modelling stages, so it was scrapped.)

The greyboxing stages of development:

What the map looked like during programming stages. (It for sure had a glowup since this stage!)

The Skinwalker!

A better look at the Skinwalker that enters your home! It looks much scarier in the darkness with all the post-processing, but I am still quite happy with how it came out!
